Wikipedia states that “Kabukimono ( 傾奇者 (カブキもの), Kabukimono ?) or hatamoto yakko ( (旗本奴, hatamoto yakko ?) were in Japan, between the end of the Muromachi era and the beginnining of the Edo period, ronin who claimed to be samurais of the shogun, while in fact they acted as outlaws. They were used to spend their time in the city of pleasure of Edo, and wear unusually flamboyant and strange outfits, behaving in a vulgar and irritating way.”

If you look at it from a different point of view, wasn’t the establishment irritating to the kabukimono? Yes! The ronin may have started as sword wielders but they evolved.  We may be masterless but we still have honor.  We are here to build the future.
